The Social Work Bursary (SWB) and Education Support Grant (ESG) have supported social work students since 2003, helping with study costs and the provision of practice placements.
This consultation seeks views on how these schemes could be reformed to best support students. We particularly welcome input from current and future students, higher education institutions and employers. Responses will inform future policy decisions to help secure a high‑quality, diverse social work workforce across health, social care and the voluntary sector.
